The Port of Brisbane, its people and its personalities
In his book, The Port of Brisbane, its people and its personalities, Peter Ludlow follows the development of our port from its wharves in the city centre and moves with them downriver to its development at its present location at Fisherman Islands. However, the book is much more than that: it is a history of the Brisbane River itself, from Aboriginal times to the present day, encompassing our association with the river through commerce, study, and recreation. As the name implies, much of it is told through the words and pictures of those who eye-witnessed the events and as such provides a valuable document for future generations on which to draw.
This hardback book comprises: 344 A4 sized pages; 420 images mostly in colour; with chapters from over 50 contributors.
Part 1 – A History of the Brisbane River from Aboriginal times to the present
Part 2 – The Port upriver as told in the words and images of those who were there
Part 3 – The Port at Fisherman Islands
